People were drawn to him. He always had a crowd gathered around him. Why was this?
I think there were many reasons, but one I like was that he was a risk taker. He wasn't normal. He was so far outside the box for his day.
As a leader of people we need to do things outside the box, many things. We need to take risks.
We are called to live like Jesus, but there is more to it than loving others, taking care of widows and loving God with everything we are. If we are to truly live like Jesus we need to take risks and do things outside the box as well.
I hope in your ministry you are taking risks and living a life that is outside the box because you are free in Christ.
What are some risks you have taken? Did they work? If not, how did you correct it? If you have never taken a risk or it has been a while, I challenge you to take a risk this week. It will be worth it either way.
Do others around you see Christ through your actions or do they see you? Think about it.
Mine is my alma mater Oklahoma State University. They kickoff against #3 Missouri in about an hour. My brother who went to OU is not having a good day, nor are all the other Sooner die hards. They lost to #5 Texas, 45-35.
I hope my Cowboys can pull off the big upset tonight at Missouri. We will see.
So, who do you cheer for?
Reading the Bible for me has always been a chore, not something I have look forward to. I would pick up my Bible and read a few verses at a time, but I never have sat down and studied scripture and looked at it for a long time. I think some of this has to do with the fact that I went to a private Christian school from Pre-K through 12th grade. I had Bible class everyday and chapel once a week. The Bible was essentially spoon fed to me. I thought because I was reading the Bible in class and having Bible class everyday that was enough. Now, don't get me wrong. Going to school there taught me a lot and definitely prepared me for life at a public university. I am so thankful I went to a public university and not a private Christian one. I would not change that at all.
Anyways, I have started reading the Bible again and I am loving it. I can read stories I have heard 50 times, but I am finding new things and new ideas. I can now say I love reading the Bible.
Have you ever felt this?
