The Church Website

How is your church website?  Is it outdated?  Does it look the same as it did in 1995 or 1985 for that matter?  Does it have too much junk on the main page that people have trouble navigating the site?  The website is most likely the place where people make their first decision about your church.   I have seen too many church websites look like this.  Even if you are a big church or a small church someone needs to be in charge of the site. You need to make a budget for the website.  It is too important not too. Here is one example of a simple and clean church website.  Elevation Church in North Carolina has all the important stuff on the main page and it is easy to find.  I could give lots of examples of churches with really tough to navigate sites, but odds are you know who you are and they are. For $1,000 up front and then $20 a month you can have an excellent website that looks good, is done by professionals, and is easy to navigate. How is this possible you ask.  Well, I will tell you.  Thanks to Clover you can have a professional looking website that looks awesome and is very easy to manage. So, if you are looking to start your church website or just need a change go check out Clover today.

Churchmediadesign.tv

Churchmediadesign.tv is an awesome website and they have an awesome podcast.  You can either watch the tutorials on the website or the podcast through iTunes.  It is definitely worth checking out if you are the graphic designer for your ministry or church.  It has helped me understand Photoshop and After Effects better. In one of the episodes he mentions a website called zamzar.  It is for online file conversions and it is free.  It is super great for videos.

Do you have Margin...

...in your life? Are you using all of your vacation time? Are you taking a Sabbath every week? Do you leave work at work when you can or are you taking work home when you don't have to? Here is a simple idea if you can afford it.  Next time you are up for a raise, instead of taking more money aske for more days off.  However many days would equal your raise.  It will definitely be worth it. Your family will love you more for it and you will greatly benefit from it. Is anyone doing this?  If so, how has it blessed you?

Collide Magazine

I know I have blogged about Collide magazine before, at least I think I have, but it is an awesome magazine if you love tech, media and the church.  I have found so many good resources in this magazine, and there are some great columns by some bloggers you might know.  In the current issue I am reading there is a column by Ben Arment and Tim Stevens

Collide is a bi-monthly publication.  I wish it was monthly, but that is what makes me anticipate it even more.  Go out and get your copy of Collide or go to the website to find some other great things.

Your Story

Just some questions to make you think. How do you share your story everyday? What are you doing in your life for others to see Christ? Do you have a story that needs to be shared with everyone?  How are you going about that? Why is it so easy to go to church on Sunday for 45 minutes, (assuming you get there halfway through worship and sneak out right before or during the close) an hour if not? If you work at a church do you find ourself just going through the motions or are you truly and really in love with Jesus? Are you serving somewhere in your church?  if so, where? If not, why not? Do you just take up a seat in your church on Sundays?  Are you a consumer? These are some really tough questions.  I ask them because I am or have been all of these. What other questions can you add to this?

My hip

So, last night I had a softball game.  I slid into second, but it reall wasn't a slide more like a landing.  Now my hip hurts so bad.  I am pretty sure it is the worst hip pointer in my entire life.  Can't sit, lay on my left side, it hurts to walk, and its now lumpy.  Don't want to go to the doctor.  Giving it a few days.  Then I will decide.
