Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Kind of like the David Bowie song but not really.
The last few years have been crazy. Finished my internship at Saddleback Church. Got married, moved to OK -------- for 6 months. Moved back to CA. My wife got a job at Mariners Church in Irvine, CA. I got a job at Capo Valley Christian Schools in San Juan Capistrano as the Elementary and JH Chaplain and yearbook teacher. Lived with the in-laws for a few months. Moved to a place in Dana Point. Lived there for 2 years. Quit my job at CVCS after 2 years because I needed something full time. Started working for eCompliments as their social media manager - still part-time. Moved to another place in Dana Point that is now literally 300 yards from the ocean. My wife started going back to school for nursing. She eventually wants to be a nurse. So, as you can see it has been a whirlwind. But I think it is finally at a place that will be constant for a while, which is great.
During the last 6 months I have been helping out Capo Valley Church in San Juan Capistrano. It's actually on the same property as CVCS. The Student Ministries Pastor actually lives 2 doors down from my in-laws. I have really missed working in a church. While helping out I was able to see what my strengths were and where I would like to work in a church again. During this process we realized that being an Associate Pastor would be something I would enjoy and be good at. I like doing the behind-the-scenes stuff as much, if not more than being in front of people.
So, with that said, the church made a position for me as the Student Ministries Associate. What does this mean?
Basically I will be focusing on the JH as well as building a small group program with Caleb for JH, HS and young adults. I will be doing a lot programming stuff for youth and a little bit with adults. I will be doing a lot of the church-wide social media stuff; facebook, twitter, videos, blogs, etc... These are all things that I enjoy and love doing for the Kingdom. I know there is more stuff that will be added to my plate and I am very excited about this. My first day was yesterday, so I am learning a lot right now. It has been tough being patient the last few months, but it has paid off. God's timing is perfect.
For those of you who have been praying and are continuing to pray for us we can't thank you enough.
